Today we rehearsed at Astoria Park (site of our first public performance on July 19). We were down three dancers (yikes!) but made good use of the day rehearsing this section that focuses on Anna's solo.
I am exploring how performance heightens philosophical connections between people. I founded Seen Performance (seenperformance.org) with David Morneau and Shana McKay Burns to help define this process through cross-disciplinary collaboration. While earning my MFA in Dance and Technology from The Ohio State University, I developed an approach to creating performance through methodologies borrowed from disciplines outside dance. Early in my training, I studied improvisation at Middlebury College with Penny Campbell, who practices it as a compositional form. This idea influenced me to think about dance beyond the immediate body, which has led directly to crafting audience design as part of my performances.
