Here the ladies are dancing our new (and final!) opening, also known as the guiding section. We made some great progress in this rehearsal, clarifying performance attitudes and "details." My goal is to communicate cooperation and team building, and we were working on this section to make sure it is neither too internal nor too presentational/obvious/showy.

I am exploring how performance heightens philosophical connections between people. I founded Seen Performance (seenperformance.org) with David Morneau and Shana McKay Burns to help define this process through cross-disciplinary collaboration. While earning my MFA in Dance and Technology from The Ohio State University, I developed an approach to creating performance through methodologies borrowed from disciplines outside dance. Early in my training, I studied improvisation at Middlebury College with Penny Campbell, who practices it as a compositional form. This idea influenced me to think about dance beyond the immediate body, which has led directly to crafting audience design as part of my performances.
